Event Sales Executive

Summary

The primary role of the Event Sales Executive is to increase event revenues by achieving or exceeding the revenue goal in their assigned territory, lead day-to-day sales objectives for strategies and execution, and develop processes and materials that provides efficiency to local markets. Extensive travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Sell and execute events in conjunction with current year's business plan and budget;
  • Consistently meets/exceeds all revenue targets;
  • Develops and demonstrates expert knowledge and understanding of all GateHouse Live events;
  • Follows GateHouse Live prescribed best practices on Pipeline Management and Gap Analysis and completes all required sales process activities;
  • Actively drive new business revenue for event;
  • Effectively communicates with management to provide accurate revenue forecasts and market intelligence that may impact revenue (+/-);
  • Make sales calls, in-market and over the phone;
  • Provide leadership to local markets on each event to ensure that staffs are fully supported to accomplish tasks required for successful events;
  • Partner closely with executives and cross-functional teams to facilitate trust, communication and collaboration;
  • Ensure implementation of event objectives;
  • Develop sales packages, contracts, presentations and lead lists;
  • Work closely with Event Sales Leader to ensure events hit budget;
  • Launch event sales initiatives to local sales staffs;
  • Monitor goal tracking in local markets for event sales;
  • Manage CRM tool;
  • Make in-market blitz calls as needed;
  • Manage event set-up and execution;
  • Research and monitor trends in newspaper and events industry;
  • Extensive travel required.

Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in sales, ideally event sales;
  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, public relations or related;
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize;
  • Ability to prospect new business via cold calling and other prospecting techniques including social media where applicable;
  • Highly motivated, self-starting individual with initiative and drive to succeed;
  • Ability to close new business and exceed sales targets;
  • Successful track record of pushing past rejection and achieving results;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build and deliver effective presentations;
  • Eagerness to learn, continually seeking to improve sales skills;
  • Strong time management and follow up skills;
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and reliable transportation;
  • Proficiency in MS Office;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Strong understanding of advertising sales strategy;
  • Strong business expertise, with a high bar set on quality;
  • Able to think both strategically and operationally.
