Job Description

Frontier Communications is seeking an ETL Lead Developer to join our Data Warehouse team. The ETL Lead determines the optimal approach for obtaining data from diverse source system platforms and moving it to EDW. This involves understanding all of the source system platforms, application architectures and DBMSs. The person in this role designs and implements the infrastructure used by ETL specialists on specific projects. This work includes constant refinement activities to standardize and implement new functionality based on experiences learned during the course of specific projects. This also involves the establishment and enforcement of a concise series of technical standards for the deliverables of individual projects. The ETL Lead provides input to the long-term technology planning portions of the program plan. This person assists and coaches ETL specialists during the course of their individual projects. The ETL Lead has a thorough understanding of – and is capable of teaching – the diverse acquisition techniques, decision rules and how to apply them.

 

Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development & implementation of solutions which are reliable, scalable, and perform at a high-level including: ETL mappings, workflows and prepare them for deployment into test and production environments

Determine the optimal approach for obtaining data from diverse source system platforms and moving it to the EDW using the appropriate Informatica tool set

Collaborate with developers, project managers and business analysts in conceptualizing and developing new software applications and enhancements

Ability to tune Informatica workflows; knowledge of optimal mapping techniques

Develop the technical solution and effort estimates based on business requirements

Writing technical design documents and follow the software development life cycle and coding standards

Work within a team environment to maintain and troubleshoot ETL and database systems

Implement the ETL infrastructure used at a project level


Establish and enforce technical standards for deliverables of projects


Coach project ETL specialists on data acquisition techniques, decision rules and how to apply them

 

Required Skills:

  • Extensive experience with Informatica Power Exchange, Replicator, Power Center transformation types and reusable components, and IDQ. Experience with BDE is a plus.

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with Informatica objects

  • Optimize Informatica code for specific database environments including: Teradata, Oracle & SQL Server

  • Integrating ELT code within scheduling tools, such as Autosys

  • Ability to deliver results with minimum supervision

  • Excellent communication skills

  • EDW Design and Architecture including: Multi-layered data warehousing (e.g. Landing, Staging, Core, Semantic, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of relational data structures, theories, principles, and practices

  • Strong written and oral communications skills

  • Have an understanding of telecommunications operational & business support systems and processes is a big plus.
