General Purpose of the Position:
The Estimating Director oversees the estimating functions of an assigned regional office to successfully generate income for the company. This includes qualifying, quantifying, estimating, negotiating, and mitigating risk exposure to work. This position reports to the Vice President of Estimating or other assigned supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: interviewing, hiring, mentoring and training employees; planning assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and resolving employee issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Attends Preconstruction Department project strategy meetings to convey assignment and initial program data related to assigned projects to Document Control, Logistics and MEP Managers.
• Manages the estimating process by overseeing the progress of the estimating teams’ chronological assigned tasks.
• Conducts a comprehensive review of all aspects of a bid or presentation in preparation for the final review.
• Establishes and maintains professional relationships and open communication with assigned clients.
• Attends all scheduled meetings related to assigned projects with assigned clients and/or client consultants.
• Directs and clearly communications vital goals on assigned projects to assigned preconstruction staff.
• Oversees assigned preconstruction staff to ensure that all facets of each estimate are on track to be completed in a timely and professional manner.
• Conducts a comprehensive review of all aspects of a bid or presentation in preparation for the final review.
• Attends and participates in preconstruction project kick-off meetings with assigned members of project team.
• Participates in presentations of assigned projects and interviews with assigned clients.
• Conducts new hire and annual performance evaluations for direct report personnel.
• Establishes and maintains an on-going training program for estimating staff members assigned to regional offices. Establishes distinct criteria for the betterment of individuals in detailed cost estimating.
• Cooperates with and assists the Vice President of Preconstruction in the implementation, evaluation and updating of preconstruction department standards and procedures (including new hire orientation procedure, bid solicitation procedure, subcontractor and vendor relations, subcontractor bid analysis procedure, format for project start up and kick off meetings, estimate preparation and presentation, and competitive bidding
• Maintains the preconstruction section of the company procedures manual computer library.
• Oversees Estimating Managers to ensure all facets of assigned estimates and proposals are on track, completed in a timely manner and that all departmental resources are used efficiently. Reviews proposals prior to client presentation.

• Develops and maintains a functional unit price database.

Other Duties:
• Adheres to and supports all Safety requirements.
• Demonstrates technical knowledge of the construction industry and the ability to use cost-estimating methods.
• Applies knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in construction field.
• Maintains clear and open communication with and assists Business Development Department in the
preparation of proposals.
• Demonstrates consistent ability to be dependable, consistent, diligent, and thorough.
• Exercises creativity and resourcefulness in completing tasks accurately in a compressed timeframe.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations to include health, safety, and welfare as appropriate.

Required Job Skills:
• Thoroughly familiar with lodging and gaming vocabulary and facility program components.
• Possess thorough understanding of principles of critical path scheduling.
• Utilizes excellent written and oral communications and team skills.

Computer Equipment and Software:

Special Skills:

  • Intermediate knowledge of Windows / Word / Outlook / Publisher.
  • Advanced skill level with MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate knowledge of On Screen Takeoff Software.

Education and Experience:
Certification: Not applicable.
Education: High School or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, (Civil, Construction Management) or technical training is required. A combination of education and work experience will also be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience: Eight or more years of experience in preconstruction in a team or department leadership position. Some Construction Operations preferred.
