Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with skills and experience: $77,000 - $96,900

Employment Classification: Full Time, Exempt

Our Location

Energy Trust provides for a range of work location options, including remote, hybrid and in-office work. This position will represent Energy Trust in public settings and potentially at community events. We are open to candidates who live throughout Oregon and Washington. The Equity Initiatives Manager would be expected to report to the office on a quarterly basis, at minimum.

What We're Looking For:

The Equity Initiatives Manager will work within Energy Trust's Renewable Energy Sector to build and deepen relationships with community-based organizations and manage a portfolio of related program initiatives and offerings. This position will collaborate closely with external stakeholders and internal Energy Trust teams to develop priorities for solar and storage program work with community-based organizations. The Equity Initiatives Manager will help the organization prepare for and implement components of a federal Solar for All funding award.

The Equity Initiatives Manager will implement new offerings and enhancements through effective project management, applying an organizational equity lens to improve program outcomes. This position will represent program offerings in public, keep accurate records within organizational business systems and manage contracts with related annual budgets of up to $2.0 million with oversight from the Sr. Program Manager. This position will have authority to set and overrule program guidelines, as needed, to ensure positive customer and trade ally experiences and manage stakeholder relationships

What You'll Do:
  • Develop strategies to create broad adoption of clean energy technologies in Oregon homes and businesses, supporting access for all customers, especially those with lower incomes and in racially diverse and rural communities. Manage offerings and initiatives to improve solar and storage adoption within those prioritized customer groups.
  • In collaboration with outreach managers, build relationships and partnerships with community-based organizations, identifying needs, barriers, and opportunities to invest in renewable energy and resilience solutions for historically underserved customers.
  • Manage an annual budget of approximately $0.5 - $2 million or more for projects and/or program initiatives within the Renewable Energy team.
  • Collaborate with Energy Trust staff and other coalition partners to prepare for and implement federal Solar for All funding, including program planning and implementation and management of sub-awards for community-based organizations.
  • Collaborate with other program teams, the communications and outreach team, and other internal teams to align and deliver community-based organization engagement strategies.
  • Support efforts to diversify Energy Trust's trade ally contractor network and help recruit contractors to fill in gaps in trade ally coverage for rural communities. Develop strategies to connect trade allies and community-based organizations to better reach historically underserved customers.
  • Provide outreach to and support for customers, contractors and stakeholders pursuing renewable energy projects, providing program assistance and problem solving.
  • Apply organizational equity lens and other best practices to improve program outcomes for customers and communities that have been historically underserved by Energy Trust programs.
  • Present program offerings in public settings.
  • Identify key deliverables and ensure projects and initiatives meet goals.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of project information.
  • Perform all functions of the job in a safe manner.
  • This position may oversee the work of contractors, suppliers and/or vendors as necessary in the course of managing specific program components and other efforts.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (business, communications, environmental studies, public policy or social sciences) or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • Minimum five years of relevant professional experience, including communications and outreach, program design or delivery, project management, stakeholder or customer engagement, or similar roles.
  • Successful experience working within multidisciplinary teams. Must be able to interact with a diverse workforce and be comfortable working in culturally diverse settings and groups.
  • Understands and exercises best practices for inclusive stakeholder engagement and communication.
  • Demonstrated skill in engaging people from a variety of backgrounds and facilitating collaboration from parties with divergent needs and interests.
  • Experience in managing contractors preferred, including writing scopes of work and managing the execution of the contract.
  • Technical aptitude or experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Public speaking experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software applications and basic knowledge of SharePoint is preferred.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • This position may oversee the work of contractors, suppliers and/or vendors as necessary in the course of managing specific program components and other efforts.
