Assist in managing the Centerra-Los Alamos Integrated Safety Management System.
Acts as Centerra-Los Alamos Laser Safety Officer and administer the Laser Safety Program.
Perform duties associated with the Centerra-Los Alamos Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).
Assist with accident/injury investigations and reporting.
Investigate employee ES&H concerns.
Maintain knowledge of applicable ES&H regulations, policies, and procedures.
Assist in the administration of the Motor Vehicle Safety Program.
Assist in the administration of the Firearms/Explosives Safety Program.
Assist in the administration of the Fire Protection Safety Program.
Assist in the administration of the Hazard Communication Program.
Assists as the company electrical safety subject matter expert (SME).
Assists the company Occurrence Reporting Processing System (ORPS) coordinator as necessary
Assist in entering injury and illness data into the DOE/NNSA/LANL Computerized Accident/Incident Reporting System (CAIRS).
Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
Perform ES&H inspections, appraisals, assessments and evaluations of Centerra-Los Alamos facilities and work activities.
Performs Environmental Management Duties.
Perform functions associated with the Pollution Prevention Program.
Administer Centerra-Los Alamos Radiation Protection Program.
Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
Recommend changes in the work environment based on interpretation and analysis of hazards, applicable standards, and principles of professional practices.
Communicate lessons learned to the organization and identify controls to prevent recurrence.
Assist in the administration of the Respiratory Protection Program. Acts as the Centerra-Los Alamos Radiation Control Manager. Administer Centerra-Los Alamos Environmental Management Program.
Review operations and projects for environmental impacts. Administer the Hazardous Substance Inventory Program. Provides ES&H Training
Administer ES&H employee training and ES&H Awareness Programs. Performs administrative duties as required. Coordinate Employee Safety Committee (ESC) meetings, activities, etc.
Perform Live Fire/Indoor Range Safety Assessments annually and ensure ODFSA approval is acquired.
Collect, analyze, maintain and report safety performance indicator data for ES&H program activities.
Review and approve requisitions for safety related products, chemicals, equipment, etc.
Develop and/or review safety plans for performance testing activities. Act as the Senior Safety Controller for Force on Force exercises. Supports Force-on-Force activities by searching exercise participants, their belongings and vehicles to prevent the introduction of a dangerous item in the exercise play area, conducting area and facility sweeps, issuing equipment, serving as bus monitors, roadblock duties or any other assignments intended to support the safe conduct of this activity.
Ensure that work is executed in accordance with ISM and ISSM Core Functions and Guiding Principles.
Performs duty related official travel as needed to enhance ES&H programs.
Conducts work in the field to fulfill mission requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
BS or BA degree from a recognized college/university in the ES&H field of study or equivalent combination of training and experience in occupational safety and/or industrial hygiene disciplines.
A minimum of five years of experience in the ES&H field and demonstrated skills in investigative and report writing techniques, as well as the ability to adapt practices, procedures and techniques to the special requirements the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).
Demonstrated experience with PC software including Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated experience working independently with limited supervision.
Currently have or be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-Clearance.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
