Job Overview

LaBella Associates is currently accepting resumes for a Land Use and Environmental Permitting & Compliance Specialist position to help grow our Natural Resources Compliance Group located in Maine.

The mid/senior-level environmental permitting specialist is responsible for project support duties associated with providing on-call environmental services for an electrical utility. Duties include, but are not limited to: preparing, reviewing, obtaining environmental permits, preparing/reviewing environmental documents/ permit applications, and natural resource studies (i.e. wetland and stream delineations, endangered species), conducting regulatory agency consultations, environmental compliance oversight and field inspections during and post-construction.

The successful candidate will demonstrate, at a minimum, five years' experience with permitting environmental projects in Maine, should have understanding of the State's environmental regulations governing natural resource protection related to infrastructure projects, and have had prior experience working in consulting and conducting/overseeing natural resource-related work.

Candidate should also have experience:

  • Identifying important/necessary aspects related to Project Scope(s) of Work and be able to define necessary operational control measures.
  • Overseeing contractors to ensure construction activities are in compliance with environmental permits.
  • Implementing and maintaining operational controls throughout the lifespan of projects.
  • Be a self-starter and comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing environmental consulting/engineering practice.

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Environmental Studies, Ecology, Geology, or Biology
  • Five years of project permitting & compliance experience in Maine
  • Prior Professional biological/wetland fieldwork experience required
  • Technical/proposal writing abilities
  • Some travel within northeastern USA required
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
