Growing durable goods manufacturer is seeking a EHS Manager for their OH plant.
¨ Ensures compliance with all EPA requirements including obtaining and renewing applicable permits, completing mandatory reporting, and recording monitoring data for regulations under the CAA, the CWA, the RCRA, the EPCRA, and the TSCA.
¨ Establishes, modifies, and refines policies and procedures to ensure compliance with EPA regulations and other enforcement agencies’ requirements.
¨ Serves as a primary contact for environmental compliance agencies, government support agencies, parent companies, and natural gas and water utilities.
¨ Promotes/champions Associate, company, and contractor compliance with environmental policy and programs. Initiates corrective action and reports compliance lapses/failures to the Leadership Team.
¨ Facilitates or personally conducts required communications and necessary environmental training of all Associates, temporaries, and as necessary, contracted employees. This includes initial training for new Associates, mandated annual training for Associates and contractors.
¨ Develops presentations, presentation materials, and schedules. Identifies and engages appropriate outside training resources. May assist response simulation training with EMS, Fire Department, and County HAZMAT Team for plant emergencies including injuries, fires, and spills.
¨ Facilitates active Associate ownership, responsibility, and accountability of environmental programs through project teams, and company and ISO14001 continuous improvement initiatives.
¨ Responsible for purchase and placement of all environmental signs, labels, and notices in conformance with EPA requirements.
¨ Responsible for the purchasing, receiving, and invoice accounting of environmental equipment and services.
¨ Responsible for environmental incident investigations and documentation, including establishment and revision of procedures, corrective actions, and training.
¨ Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and management of the ISO 14001 environmental management system.
¨ Responsible for the development and implementation of hazardous materials response program for spills, transportation incidents, etc. Responsible for the management of company’s hazardous waste and non-hazardous wastes, and recycling programs. Maintains familiarity with hazardous waste regulations. Profiles and labels hazardous waste, and establishes and maintains waste accumulations areas. Performs required inspections and maintains associated records.
¨ Stays current on all activities related to regulatory compliance including laws and regulations changes.
Required Qualification/ Skills:
¨ Knowledge of state and federal environmental laws and compliances requirements
¨ Familiarity with pollution sources and control methods and control equipment
¨ Understanding of production requirements and processes
¨ Advanced communication and facilitation skills
¨ Advanced computer skills
¨ Advanced organizational and leadership skills
Education and/or Experience
¨ Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering/Science or a related engineering/management degree
¨ Master’s Degree in Environmental or EHS Management desirable
