Job description:

Supervises and coordinates the activities of team members assigned to environmental and sanitation operations. Ensures GMP, Safety and company Food Safety procedures, are adhered to and enforced.


o   Establishes operational procedures to maintain required environmental and sanitation standards and ensures standards are being met and are in compliance with IFS and company requirements

o   Supervises Environmental Control team members, conducts performance appraisals, directs work activities, trains and/or coordinates training for team members based on department requirements

o   Maintains, reviews, and revises best cleaning practices and Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS). 

o   Inspects equipment and products for conformity to established standards, including HACCP and allergen food safety programs. 

o   Validate allergen cleaning of line and equipment to ensure all allergen protein has been cleaned from the line and assist with developing an allergen changeover/cleaning matrix

o   Supports all efforts in producing a safe, quality product for Dawn customers.

o   Coordinates and monitors pest control program

o   Participates in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety walkthroughs and              corrects assigned deficiencies noted.

o   Prepares and follows through on work orders for equipment repairs.

o   Demonstrates knowledge and conforms to all quality programs including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

o   Confers with Quality Assurance, Production, and Maintenance team members on sanitation concerns.

o   Recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to improve sanitation standards and the integrity of the finished products

o   Monitors department budget objectives and ensures that cost effective methods are being used.  

o   Orders sanitation cleaning supplies and chemicals, maintains inventories, and negotiates with vendors for competitive pricing.

o   Ensures all chemicals used in the plant are approved and all supporting documentation is available

o   Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

o   Balances quality, safety, productivity, cost, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Supports the Circle of Excellence and the company Philosophy. 


o   Bachelor?s degree in related field

o   5years of experience in supervisory capacity in sanitation. 3years waived for Masters or PhD.

o   Working knowledge of HACCP and other primary food safety programs including food microbiology

o   Intensive experience with pest control program development and management

o   Experience with IFS or any other GFSI standard

o   Intermediate computer skills working with spreadsheets, databases, e-mail, and word processing.
