Job Description The Engineering Technician IV works on a team supporting cabling, equipment and C5ISR system installations. This position pulls, terminates and dresses all Categories of Copper and Fiber Optic cabling. Installs and documents IT equipment, cable conveyance, antennas and supporting systems. Performs non-routine and complex assignments involving

responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project. Selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts. The Engineering Technician IV contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work; reviews,

analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others. Supervisor or professional engineer outlines objectives, requirements, and design approaches; completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. May train and be assisted by lower level technicians.
This position performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:


-Communications rack and supporting systems installation.
-Installation of overhead or under-floor cabling, including removal and replacement of raised floor tiles.
-Installation of patch cabling for interconnecting IT equipment.
-Installation of ceiling, raised floor or wall conveyances.
-Installation of specialized command and control equipment.
-Use of lifts, ladders and appropriate safety equipment during installations.
-Designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results. –
-From general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements), develops designs for equipment without critical performance requirements which are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry.
-Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design

problems; selects from several possible design layouts; calculates design data; and prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc.
-May check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design.


-Plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance.
-Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results, and prepares reports on findings and recommendation.
-May require shift work.
Required Skills -Requires High School diploma and 8+ years of experience. -Current BICSI ITS Technician certification (or equivalent) and CPR certification preferred -Applicants must

successfully complete background investigation and drug screening -Applicants must have Active Secret Clearance. Top Secret preferred. -This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens. Military Veterans and Spouses encouraged to apply!
