The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Engineering Technician (GG-0802-12) to work for Air Force Life Cycle management Center (AFLCMC) in Networks Engineering (HNE), located at Joint base San Antonio-Lackland, TX.
SALARY RANGE: $90,823 - $118,072
Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period. Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position aligned under authorities of Section 1601, Chapter 83 of Title 10, United States Code and DoD Instruction 1400.25-V2007.

QUALIFICATIONS:
In this position you will serve as an engineering technician for the Technical Applications Products program team. Providing sustainment and developmental engineering technical and logistics support for production, repair, refurbishment, and modification of material samplers of the United States Atomic Energy Detection System (USAEDS).
US Citizenship is required.
Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of Aircraft Systems and Maintenance: Comprehensive understanding of aircraft mechanical, structural, and avionics systems, including standard maintenance practices, safety protocols, and relevant regulatory/military compliance standards.
Knowledge of Electronic Principles: Understanding of electronic theory, circuitry, avionics integration, and electrical safety standards required for diagnosing and repairing complex aerospace electronic systems.
Knowledge of Engineering Design Standards: Familiarity with mechanical drafting standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and technical documentation procedures.
Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Proficiency (Solidworks): Advanced skill in utilizing Solidworks for 3D solid modeling, 2D drafting, assembly creation, and producing manufacturing-ready engineering drawings.
Technical Troubleshooting and Repair: Skill in utilizing diagnostic tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and specialized test equipment to isolate and repair faults in aircraft electronics and mechanical systems.
Blueprint and Schematic Interpretation: High proficiency in reading, interpreting, and redlining complex mechanical blueprints, electrical wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Ability to Bridge Design and Execution: The capability to translate engineering designs and Solidworks models into practical, actionable maintenance or fabrication steps on the hangar floor or workbench.
Ability to Document and Report: The capacity to maintain accurate, detailed maintenance logs, draft technical reports, and update engineering drawings to reflect "as-built" or "as-repaired" configurations.
Ability to Collaborate Cross-Functionally: The ability to communicate technical information clearly to engineers, maintenance crews, and management to ensure mission readiness and project completion.
