Job Responsibilities

As an Engineering Project Manager, you will coordinate and manage various projects to be performed by the Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility and desire to roll up their sleeves, as needed, to en sure client deadlines are met. You will be responsible for maintaining client satisfaction, adhering to design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects, mentoring junior staff and supervising/leading coordination meetings.

Engineering Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Managing large projects, preparing reports and specifications, and providing a high level of technical leadership
  • Providing consulting services, including preparation of due diligence reports, gap analyses, and feasibility reports
  • Producing drawings consistent with client requirements and standards
  • Monitoring correspondence between staff, clients, contractors, owners, etc.
  • Assuming responsible charge for the overall economic well-being of the assigned projects
  • Establishing project budgets and schedules and delivering projects on schedule and within budget
  • Participating in QA/QC process of completed work by staff
  • Participating in staff resource management and review as needed
  • Maintaining client satisfaction and project efficiency
  • Communicating regularly with Syska Client Leaders and Project Managers of other services who may be managing other projects for the same client
  • Maintaining interdisciplinary coordination with other trades/projects consultants
  • Preparation of proposals and administering project contracts between Syska and the client, including Add Service Agreements

Job Requirements

This role requires a highly skilled Technical Project Manager with in-depth knowledge of building systems and industry standards in mechanical, electrical and plumbing. In addition to strong project management skills, you will need a high degree of interpersonal and relationship building skills to be successful in this position.

Engineering Project Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution; exceptional candidates may substitute with significant years of experience
  • 7 to 10 years minimum of engineering project management experience working in a consulting engineering firm
  • History working with commercial projects is a requirement; additional project design experience in Healthcare, Higher Education, hospitality, and/or Critical Facilities is a big plus
  • Ability to fully prepare a construction bid document and all the various phases of the project through documentation and construction
  • Working knowledge of design and calculation software
  • Working knowledge of Building systems to ensure proper design coordination
  • Knowledge of ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) construction costs and ability to evaluate construction costs
  • Working knowledge and legal understanding of documents and the processes involved during a construction project
  • Working knowledge of Life Cycle Costing analysis
  • Working knowledge of latest version of AutoCAD and REVIT
  • PMP certification, highly preferred
