Detailed Description

  • Key Accountabilities:

    • Oversees the analysis and review of budgets, schedules and headcount to determine the most cost effective and efficient methods of obtaining necessary resources.
    • Provide technical leadership in designing, developing and improving Company engineered systems projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization’s established policies and objectives.
    • Develops and recommends revisions or enhancements to schedules, human and monetary resource allocations, and production requirements.
    • Coordinate technical and sales support to meet Company objectives.
    • Coach team members to utilize process improvements tools and techniques and ensure on-time project completion.
    • Performs technical evaluations for cost reductions, problem resolution and product and process improvements.
    • Evaluates engineering processes and make recommendation on changes.
    • Present departmental information to management.


    Major challenges:

    • Working with cross-cultural and cross-regional groups
    • Managing a diverse team that is managing multiple project simultaneously, in a fast-paced and sometime high stress environment with tight deadlines, providing support and guidance as needed.

Job Requirements

The position requires the following qualifications, education and experience


Educational qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters a plus)
  • PE (or ability to obtain within 6 months) essential


Relevant experience:

  • 10+ years experience and preferably 2+ years managing people, or a combination of education and experience
  • Experience working in a mining, heavy equipment, or metals industry a plus; working with large scope and budget project required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills on a technical level with excellent interpersonal and customer relation skills
  • Requires ability to train personnel in the use of processes and tools to accomplish business goals
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, interpersonal and customer relations skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts, specifications, and drawings
  • Demonstrated skills and broad understanding in project planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
