SUMMARY 

Plan and manage the activities of a team of manufacturing engineers throughout the product realization process, providing technical and operational direction to strengthen the team and improve overall efficiency, and ensuring the successful completion of engineering projects in order to meet the company?s quality and on-time delivery objectives, adhering to the Quality Management System and all applicable government, industry and customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Create comprehensive project plans, in collaboration with the AEG Project Manager, and allocate appropriate resources, coordinate the engineering activities, clarify expectations and troubleshoot obstacles to ensure the successful delivery of the customer?s requirements.

Apply advanced engineering techniques to lead and mentor the team in creating design solutions and developing efficient, robust processes, ensuring customer satisfaction as well as profitability.

Promote effective collaboration between the Manufacturing Engineers, the CNC Programmers and Quality Control Engineers as well as with the Operations group to ensure the successful and timely implementation of efficient processes, including accurate documentation and complete quality plans.

Oversee the investigation of customer complaints and rejections to ensure equitable, cost-effective solutions that will prevent re-occurrence.

As a member of the quote team, review requests for quotes (RFQs), determine feasibility of the project, and provide process and cost estimates to support the preparation of the quote.

Promote the development of professional partnerships with customers, providing clear and timely communication of expectations, revisions, and timelines.

Lead the development of standards and protocols for all engineering activities, championing adherence to the Quality Management System and monitoring compliance.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of engineering protocols and manufacturing processes, improving yield and quality issues.

Research, evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve our engineering and manufacturing competency, enhancing our position in the market and our ability to secure new business opportunities.

Recommend, develop and supportinternal and external technical training efforts, and drive the engineering team to enhance and improve their knowledge, confidence and proficiency in manufacturing quality products.

Develop and adhere to fiscal year engineering budgets that are aligned with business objectives, provide financial performance analysis and feedback, and plan for both resource needs and capital expenditures. 

Understand, comply with and enforce company policies, safety guidelines, quality system procedures and housekeeping standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Directly supervise engineering associates, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with the company?s policies and applicable laws.  

Education and/or Experience 

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Engineering and 10 years engineering and/or management experience in a regulated CNC manufacturing environment.

Required

Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Business management and supervisory skills

Project management skills

Knowledge of medical device regulations (21CFR820, ISO13485) and their application

Proficiency with CAD software

Proficiency in inspection techniques, blueprint reading, GD&T, CMM programming concepts and applications, Gage R&R, Process Capability and Process Control Plans.

Advanced computer skills - word processing, presentations, and data management

Excellent interpersonal, customer service and collaboration skills

Detail-oriented, organized and ability to multi-task and establish priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment.
