Our Chicago based Lodging Content Systems team is growing, come be a part of it. Lodging Content team members are driven to provide best and most engaging content to our customers, making them well-informed travelers. The team owns products and services that handle large volumes of structured and unstructured data, in the form of text and media, converting it to content that helps travelers pick the best property, be it a hotel or a vacation rental. These are exciting times for this team as we're preparing our product lines for global expansion and laying the foundation for Expedia's future. You will work on critical systems which help form the architecture of Expedia's content strategy to engage the traveler. You are going to be working on problems of massive scale, pioneering techniques to have the system assess and improve the quality of content.

What you'll do with us:


  • Manage a team of software engineers (in development & testing) in implementing high quality, high volume transactional services and customer experiences - including design, development, and deployment of new business functionality.
  • Run the development, testing and implementation of software that meets established specifications on time and budget.
  • Apply industry standards and utilize new technologies to continuously improve productivity, quality, and system performance.
  • Work very closely with the Expedia Group brand engineering teams in order to smoothly migrate from legacy systems to new modern services.
  • Work closely with development, program management, test, operations, and product management to define and articulate project technical requirements.
  • Ensure that features deployed have technical integrity and stability.
  • Make recommendations on specific aspects of the operating and plans of the function or unit at the next highest Organization level.
  • Allocate available resources to meet operating objectives.
  • Interacts with direct reports, customers, and peers to share information and improve cross-departmental processes.
  • Lead both technical leads and individual contributors, including ongoing training and development, performance reviews, coaching, recruiting, and disciplinary actions.
  • Improve platform by integrating existing technology, building new technology, and/or helping evaluate 3rd party solutions.
  • Help set appropriate project schedules and handle ongoing changes.
  • Maintain knowledge of global travel industry developments and trends.



Who you are:


  • Development experience
  • Management / mentor experience
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Deep understanding of JVM technologies preferred
  • Track-record of technical leadership
  • Demonstrate ability to run and improve technical development processes
