The Commerce and Financial Systems team is the backbone of Chegg –supporting every business line and functional organization at the company. We are committed to the enablement of a self-service, configuration driven e-commerce platform thatsupports the launch of newdigital products and bundles for our business. Our Commerce & ERP platform, powered by a combination of in-house software and NetSuite and Oracle Monetization cloud (OMC), allowsProduct Engineering teams across Chegg to develop best-in-classdigitalservices and move faster in delivering new products to market by leveraging industry standard billing models. 

We are seeking a passionate, results-oriented, engineering manager to solve our next generation challenges and define our technical strategy. We have a team culture that encourages innovation and expects developers and management alike to take a high level of ownership for the product vision, technical architecture, and project delivery.       

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Director to define a technical architecture and a roadmap on how to execute against the architecture.
  • Be a voice in ensuring the team stays true to the technical vision.
  • Work with engineering leadership to evaluate build vs buy decisions in the commerce space.
  • Manage a small team of engineers on medium- to large-scale projects
  • Primarily responsible for delivering high-quality technical designs and code for the product requirements in fast-paced agilescrum sprints.
  • Work as an escalation point to troubleshoot any production issues
  • Be a technical mentor to the team

Requirements:                  

  • 10+ years of experience in JAVA and middleware software technologies such as Mulesoft, TIBCO etc
  • Experience in designing and scaling applications in the cloud, preferably AWS
  • Experience in designing RESTful Services and middleware integrations
  • Experience in database design and optimization of queries.
  • Experience in Commerce systems or any high volume transactional systems a plus.
  • Ability to distill an architecture to a non-technical audience.
