This person will be based at a specialty-chemicals manufacturing facility near Joliet, IL which is about an hour from downtown Chicago. This plant employs approximately 150 people and utilizes a wide range of unit operations ranging from reaction to distillation to alkylation and hydrogenation. This person will be responsible for the engineering team on-site and will have 10 direct reports (3 process engineers, 3 project engineers, 3 automation engineers and a PSM Manager) and will also be responsible for about 10 contractors. This role is open due to an upcoming retirement – the idea is to get someone into this role before the incumbent retires in order to have time for the out-going engineering manager to share information with the new engineering manager. The main focus of this role in the short-term will be on capital projects – those will be everything from new equipment installations to reactor capacity expansion projects to infrastructure projects, etc. This role will also oversee the work of the process engineers who will be focused on continuous improvement and plant troubleshooting. The role features minimal travel and someone can easily live in the Western Suburbs of Chicago and commute to this facility. Along with base salary, this company has a generous bonus program and benefits package. Relocation assistance is available. This position reports to the site director and this role will be a very visible one within the company.
