SUMMARY

Hulu's mobile team is looking for a Senior Software Development Lead (otherwise known as an Engineering Manager) to join us and help deliver our next generation video streaming app on Android devices. The right person for this role is highly motivated, collaborative, and technical, with the ability to coordinate across teams and empower both themselves and others in striving for and achieving excellence. Everything we do directly affects millions of consumers, their experience with our service, and impacts Hulu's core business. WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide technical and organizational leadership for your team
  • Coach and mentor a team of software developers focused on building best-in-class user experiences
  • Work closely with product teams to scope features, identify trade-offs, and ensure we build the right thing for our customers
  • Constantly raise the bar on quality and best practices
  • Educate and empower others to make forward-thinking technical decisions that scale
  • Drive long term technical vision and goals while fostering and maintaining an environment that allows developers and teams to iterate quickly and ship often

WHAT TO BRING

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of experience developing consumer applications with at least 3+ years working in the Android ecosystem
  • 2+ years of experience leading and mentoring a team of software developers
  • Proven track record of shipping several large-scale projects with multiple dependencies across teams
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, capable of working well with teams both local and remote
  • Deep understanding of the Android platform and modern Android UI development patterns
  • Champion of automation, testing, and continuous integration and deployment as part of the software development lifecycle
  • Passion for performance: data-driven optimization and decision making through monitoring and measurement

NICE-TO-HAVES

  • Experience with video streaming technology and platforms
  • Entertainment industry experience: tv, film, and/or video games
