This position provides Engineering Management support to enhance the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Modeling and Simulation (M&S) enterprise and its projects. The Engineering Manager leads specialists and works with representatives of MDA organizations in the M&S Community to facilitate and coordinate Enterprise M&S programs, projects, and tasks. The position provides implementation leadership for planning, budgeting, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling system-of-systems M&S initiatives and programs, enhancing an integrated (System-level) M&S capability.


  • Demonstrated understanding of project management disciplines (i.e. scheduling, requirements management, risk management, budgeting, execution, monitoring, and reporting)
  • Experience with DoD acquisition and budgeting processes and procedures
  • Ability to propose and execute project plans which align with gov't customer strategic goals--proposing courses of action based on overarching leadership goals and objectives
  • Experience writing and coordinating organizational plans, policies, and procedures
  • Experience successfully leading matrixed, geographically diverse technical project teams and managing their projects and tasks
  • Clearly communicates complex ideas and produces and presents clear, well-organized, and audience-relevant presentations and documents
  • Can create a positive, collaborative working relationship with teammates & stakeholders
  • Understands cost, schedule, and performance relationships and interdependencies
  • Ability to negotiate best technical and program solutions within environmental and leadership constraints
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical staff
  • Ability to think critically (i.e. research, understand, analyze, synthesize, and critique), creating solutions to new and one-of-a-kind program challenges and issues as they arise
  • Ability to work with a geographically and technically diverse team of engineers and analysts with differing perspectives and roles and responsibilities

  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office products to communicate technical and programmatic information
  • BA/BS in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) related field
  • 5 – 20 years of experience
  • Secret security clearance that has been active within the last 2 years
  • Must be a US citizen

Desired but not required skills

  • Experience managing software intensive systems and system-of-systems
  • Experience with MDA, the Missile Defense System, and M&S
  • Experience with DoDAF and architecture tools and products, especially in the M&S domain
  • Defense acquisition professional, or equivalent, training and certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent, certification
  • Project management, business management, or engineering management education
