About the role

The Manager, Engineering Lab will be responsible to lead a team of technicians in a laboratory environment to provide support to the Engineering Department in Leviton's Residential Business Unit. The Manager will be responsible for assigning tasks, supporting product functional testing, assisting technicians to design engineering, lab maintenance and product assembly.

Responsibilities

  1. Organize and distribute work to support the needs of the engineering department, including,
    • Assembling prototype printed circuit boards and assembling finished good prototypes.
    • Product functional testing including functional verification, testing in application, software regression testing, interoperability
    • HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) and HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screening)
  2. Resolve priorities and maintain throughput. Identify and resolve bottlenecks delaying completion of tasks
  3. Optimize test methods and equipment for accuracy, repeatability, and duration
  4. Identify and execute opportunities to improve test repeatability, reduce test time or reduce labor through automation
  5. Design and development of test fixtures
  6. General maintenance of the engineering lab including equipment repair, calibration, inventory, organization
  7. Be an expert on the use of all equipment and test methods
  8. Develop test procedures for new products
  9. Assist engineers in troubleshooting, diagnosis, and replication of product failures
  10. Manage operation of a HALT chamber

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read and interpret schematics and specifications
  • Able to operate lab equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, frequency generators, network analyzers
  • Proficient in interpreting test results, providing data analysis and creating written reports
  • Capable of creating technical / procedural documentation
  • Knowledgeable in lab safety, test methods, measurement accuracy
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to delegate, hold others accountable and interact with all levels of management
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good organizational skills

Education & Experience

  • A minimum of a BS degree in electronics or electrical engineering technology
  • Experience with electronics lab equipment
  • Experience in product development testing
  • Experience with automated testing
  • Five plus years of experience in a product development environment
