OPPORTUNITY: Company is small (under 100 employees), agile, growing, and committed to staying locally.
Role reports to General Manager and will be part of the executive team. This is a hands-on leadership role initially responsible for 5-6. Oversee engineering development activities, specifically product engineering and machine shop operations. Be the driver of new product development effort. Improve process performance across the company's value chain. Prepare budgets and control costs.
Lead product development process for creating and documenting, and releasing new products. Partner with sales to achieve market driven product enhancements and new market needs. Provides support for the operations team on process engineering development and implementation.
Create and own the document control process including all drawings, all process control procedures, product documentation including all Bills of Materials. Supports productivity and continuous improvement activities.
Lead improvements with testing and compliance efforts via engineering directed initiatives.
Support sales with manufacturing cost estimates, design inputs, validation and subsequent execution of the new product development process. Team with purchasing to evaluate new suppliers and coordinates their qualification or disqualification Ensure integrity of all suppliers is monitored and identify opportunities for cost reduction and quality improvements..
Control and schedule machine shop. Provide daily leadership and direction to the shop team. Negotiate contracts with outside service providers to enhance mechanical engineering and tooling needs.
REQUIREMENTS: BS Engineering (preferably BSME) wanted; Six Sigma certified a plus. Seek 10+ years of experience within an ISO 9001 metal stamping or metal working setting that includes product design of metal products. Must have at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
REWARD: $115,000 to $135,000 plus bonus and excellent benefits
