Purpose of Position:

Encompasses the application of various scientific principles from multiple engineering disciplines such as chemical, electrical, electronic, and mechanical, involving structures, machines, apparatus, or manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Involves determination of manufacturability of products and improved effectiveness and cost of production processes through determinations regarding: Methods, equipment, layout, workflow, time standards, capacity utilization, process/equipment improvements, and process control systems.
  • May involve application of knowledge and methods for understanding physical phenomena to achieve specified characteristics and criteria for products and processes. Involves organizational health and safety management systems, procedures, and programs.
  • Intended for job classifications that engage in research and/or product development in more than one engineering discipline within the Engineering/Manufacturing job family.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives.
  • Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies.
  • Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules.
  • Establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect subordinate organization(s). Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.
  • Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers and/or functional peer group managers. May interact with senior management. Interactions normally involve matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.
  • Manages, through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of activities of a section or department with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, and employees. In some instances this manager may be responsible for a functional area and may not have subordinate employees.
  • Total # of employees: around 5-10 people.
  • Direct Reports and Titles:Engineering Manager.

Travel Required:Yes.

Required Competencies:               

  • Engineeringbachelordegree, Master is a plus.
