As a SIG Software Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc. you will work as part of the Applications Software Engineering team, and be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software applications - primarily GUI. You will be required to interface with customers and peers in a professional manner, collaboratively driving toward improvements, and providing training when necessary. Periodically you will also be assigned the role of project lead and be responsible for managing all aspects of a project including the project schedule, facilitating meetings, interfacing with the customer, and help create software requirements and specification documents following standard department practices.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Help create software requirements for each software project

Conduct Usability Testing

Design and implement applications as needed for others within SIG and end user customers

Provide regular updates to the project schedule for the Project Lead

Perform complete testing of each release prior to deployment

Working directly with customers and software/electrical/control engineering peers to understand and fix issues

Identify and address root cause problems

Collaboratively develop new tools, systems, and functionality

Participate in continuous improvement of software design and implementation

Develop and maintain software and documentation through the entire equipment life cycle

Promptly respond to customer inquiries or issues

Assist in system installation and configuration

Provide end-user training when necessary

Experience:

  • Knowledge in developing and supporting applications for the Windows and Linux Operating Systems
  • Knowledge in designing and coding applications using object-oriented principles
  • Knowledge in coding and supporting applications written with non-scripting languages such as Java, C, C++, or Python
  • Knowledge in designing relational databases (I.e. MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
  • Knowledge in developing SQL commands and stored procedures
  • Knowledge in web design and web frameworks (I.e. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSF, PHP)
