ArcelorMittal Cleveland has an immediate opening for an Engineer supporting Quality Systems in the Quality Assurance Division in Cleveland, Ohio. The following primary position responsibilities and key position requirements are intended to provide an overview of the position, but are not all-inclusive.
- Will drive continuous improvement initiatives within the quality department, potentially related to areas as diverse as: Lab operations, testing accuracy, and safety improvements. Quality management systems (related to TS 16949) and departmental performance tracking systems. Defect reduction and trialsupport in coordination with plant metallurgists
- Will set a positive example for safety in the workplace. Will support and backfill vacations for lab supervisors (tasks include: scheduling people, entering time, ensuring equipment in good repair, and ensuring tests are processed in a timely fashion) and steel designers (tasks include: converting order specifications and requirements into production practices and entering all order and practice requirements into the mill scheduling system)
- Will participate in quality management and product audits. Will support the plant quality management system (QMS) including tasks such as: training employees on aspects of the QMS, responding to customer requests for information, completing corrective action and PPAPs, developing documentation (flow charts, SOPs, control plans, etc.), overseeing measurement device issues, and supporting other departments in maintaining their quality systems.
High School Diploma or GED
3 years’ experience in heavy industry. A proven commitment for safety. Participated in at least 1 quality management systems audit in the last 3 years of work experience or ASQ certified Quality Auditor
Computer literate and comfortable using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong communication skills including the ability to instruct others
Must have auditing skills, IATF experience, and PPAP experience.
Bachelor of Science in a discipline related to Technology / Science / Engineering
5 years’ experience in a steel mill. A track record of successful project completion based on 6 sigma, lean or similar methodologies (including related certifications).
Participated im at least 1 TS 16949 Audit in the last 3 years of work experience. 2 years’ experience working in an ISO 17025 certified lab
Strong computer skills including basic database design and report development.
