About the role

Responsible for engineering functions at all bulk and packaged explosive sites in North America. Provides engineering expertise in process and mechanical design relating to tanks, pumps, valves, piping systems, instrumentation, and controls. Through design reviews and audits, theincumbent oversees the assigned model procedures (such as Machine Guarding, Pressure Systems, Isolation of Plant & Equipment, Lifting Equipment and Plant Structures).

The Responsible Mechanical Engineer is responsible to review and approve all “mechanical” related modifications and alterations to maintain theintegrity of the company’s plant and equipment

What you will be doing
• Deliver continuous improvement in the efficient and reliable operation ofmobile and fixed plant mechanical systems (such as pumping systems). 
• Track and improve on key performance indicators.
• Manage/advise engineering contractors in Orica’s processes/requirements.
• Initiation, progression, and implementation of projects as deemed necessary by the business to improve plant operation and/or grow thebusiness.
• Provide guidance to ensure pump safety and reliability. Maintain the pump database base system (develop and monitor preventive maintenance completion to improve systems reliability and safety).
• Develop/modify PFDs and P&IDs for new and existing plants.
• Develop/refine standards and specifications for process equipment.
• Provide technical support for sites and others.

What you bring
• 7 – 10 years of Engineering experience
• Solid knowledge of electrical controls
• Solid knowledge of Process Engineering
• Solid knowledge of Risk Management
• Solid knowledge of mechanical or chemical Engineering
• Solid experience with change management
• Solid experience with project management
• Provide technical support for sites and others.
• Ability to travel internationally up to 40%.
