We are looking for an Engineer in Columbus, GA in the Engineering Department reporting to the Senior Manager of Engineering. The Engineer is responsible for developing scopes of work and preparing costs estimates for natural gas pipelines. The Engineer is a hands-on individual with the maturity and experience to drive and implement regulated natural gas engineering processes, process upgrades and projects from start to finish. This position requires good technical, organizational and communication skills to develop scope of work, identify project risks and clarify estimate assumptions to manage work product. An ideal candidate will have previous mechanical and civil design experience in the utilities industry setting.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Construction of new and maintenance of existing pipeline systems including selection of materials, development of procedures, compliance with applicable codes and inspection of work in progress;
Preparation of the scheduling and subsequent evaluation of leakage surveys.
Operation of pipeline system including regulation, measurement, curtailment and loss or gain of natural gas;
Compliance with Federal, state and local rules and regulations;
Design of system mains, regulator and meter settings and corrosion control protection;
Preparation and administration of capital and expense budgets including economic justification of capital expenditure proposals.
Provides input regarding the development and evaluation of the Company's operating standards.
Conducts product evaluation and presents recommendations to standards committee based on product safety, economics of use and user friendliness.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in natural gas pipeline engineering, estimating or system planning
Experience in developing scopes of work and cost estimates for natural gas pipeline
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Civil or Mechanical Engineering and related field or equivalent experience.
