You will be responsible for performing accurate and timely monthly payments and provide required analytics support over a portfolio of utility owned generation, power purchase agreements, and demand response resources. You'll also support the settlements of all power purchase agreements utilizing settlement systems, including Endur, and other tools to extract and correlate large volumes of data. This position is part of a team reporting to the Senior Managers of Contract Settlements and Settlements Development Support and is in the Energy Procurement and Management organization which is contributing to SCE's goal to be recognized by our industry as a high-performance organization. - Plan all aspects of analyses, presentations, and implementation strategies for a complete complex analysis, often of moderate or major significance and/or risk to the Company.
- Interpret contract payment terms into formula equivalents
- Understand ISO markets and correlations to SCE's power contract payments
- Knowledgeable about sources of data and resources available to integrate and present information regarding contract payments.
- Utilize existing or devises new, innovative models and methodologies to correlate large volumes of data into contract payments.
- Preform queries to formulate algorithms and create macros.
- Understand system capabilities and communicates contract settlements business knowledge
- Establish recommendations and conclusions based on analysis of complex data.
- Provide support in maintaining the settlements systems, including Endur, and payment-related user developed applications development, testing, implementation troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Provide support in the settlement of all power purchase agreements including providing resources for resolution of disputes, interacting with Contract Managers to obtain concurrence of contractual interpretations, establishing recommendations and conclusions based on analysis of complex data and monitoring and providing technical direction to aid in settling disputes.
- Support development of recommendations and may provide consulting to address problems that may have cross-organizational boundaries and/or require general settlements knowledge.
- Responsible for providing analytical support to ensure contract compliance and supports regulatory proceedings, including generating ad hoc queries for the preparation of required regulatory compliance filings, reports, and internal/external data requests including all appropriate documentation.
- Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The essentials
- Seven (7) or more years of experience in positions utilizing analytical skills with the ability to collect and analyze information, problem-solve, and make decisions.
- Experience in applying project management principles, leading projects, working with cross-functional terms, and driving projects to completion with sensitivity to competing business needs and resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare reports and present complex technical information to a wide audience, in non-technical language.
- Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, initiative, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively multi-task and enthusiastically engage in continuous learning.
The preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with calculating payments for energy and capacity contracts such as renewables, conventional power, combined heat and power, demand response, energy storage and/or natural gas.
- Experience with contract settlements, CAISO electricity markets including settlements experience with market design and charge codes, electricity markets energy, capacity, emissions, Master Agreements (WSPP, EEI, NAESB, ISDA, Broker), accounting, and/or project management
- Experience analyzing complex financial, regulatory, and/or business problems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Experience analyzing complex financial, regulatory, and/or business problems.
- Proficient skills in any programming language and databases such as MS Access, Oracle, and VBA programming.
- Experience with financial and/or quantitative analyses.
