Description: The San Diego office of Mintz seeks an associate to join its Employment, Labor and Benefits practice to service a broad range of labor and employment work. We offer challenging and interesting work, a collegial environment, and a unique opportunity to work with attorneys throughout our Employment, Labor & Benefits practice and our firm more generally.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include representing clients on a broad range of labor and employment matters, including labor and employment litigation (e.g., discrimination, wage and hour, trade secret, non-compete cases), employment and HR-related counseling, drafting of employment-related policies and procedures and agreements; conducting trainings; and transactional and due diligence matters.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have 4 to 5 years of experience covering a broad spectrum of employment work, including (i) employment litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies involving discrimination, wage hour claims, non-compete and other breach of contract claims, (ii) advising employers on a broad range of employment-related compliance matters; (iii) drafting employment policies and procedures and employment-related agreements; (iv) conducting investigations; (v) delivering employment-related compliance training (i.e. harassment training).

Some knowledge or experience with labor relations, such as collective bargaining agreements, union organizing campaigns, unfair labor practices and union avoidance, and NLRB arbitrations would be a plus as would some knowledge or experience with executive compensation matters, including familiarity with equity agreements.

The candidate should have a strong academic background, excellent communication, writing, project management, and interpersonal skills, be highly-motivated and a self-starter. Candidates must be admitted to the California State bar.
