Job Description:

Overview:

  • Lead product development and validation test activities for electronic controllers to meet or exceed performance and reliability requirements. Each controller may interface with multiple loads and complex communication standards
  • Work with in house product teams to develop and document the SOW (i.e. Requirements HW and SW), HLD (High Level Design), LLD (Low Level Design), Test System Commissioning procedure
  • Work in partnership with outside suppliers to develop the functional test systems
  • Work onsite/offsite at Test facilities with Validation Engineers/Technicians to develop/debug test stand infrastructure
  • Coordinate with relevant parties to generate validation procedures and pass/fail criteria in accordance to internal standards and component functional requirements
  • Oversee test execution to guarantee compliance to predefined test criteria
  • Develop and employ accelerated test methods and test-to-failure techniques supporting an aggressive vehicle development schedule. Lead failure analysis activities and ensure corrective action is verified
  • Work with Test Technicians to develop supporting test equipment and test setups
  • Take a lead role to resolve integration issues in the vehicle working with component and vehicle engineers
  • Develop validation compliance plan traceable to internal standards, component requirements, and mandatory government or automotive regulations?
  • Develop application specific durability tests based on customer usage information and defined vehicle drive profiles in order to demonstrate reliability targets?

Primary Skills:

  • BSME, BSEE, or similar background
  • 3+ years of experience in your field
  • Proven knowledge + expertise + passion for testing, validation and failure analysis. 
  • Experience in test of mechanical and/or electrical units in defined environmental conditions
  • Electronic control unit test and validation experience adequate to identify functional interfaces of component with other loads, actuated components, or control components.
  • Knowledge of automotive EMI/EMC tests standards and methods.
  • Knowledge of automotive environmental validation test methods including random vibration, mechanical shock, thermal shock, thermal cycling, humidity, corrosion, and water spray tests.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Accelerated test methods and test-to-failure techniques
  • Experience with CAN, LIN and other automotive networks and related tools required
  • Experience with National Instruments HW, LabVIEW, VB.net
  • Automated test equipment development
  • Fixture design and experience with CAD tools
  • Statistics knowledge to support test plan development
  • Experience with DFMEA studies for products under development.

Education:

  • BSME, BSEE, or similar background
