Sr. Manager, Email Marketing Job Description

The Senior Manager of Email Marketing is a Client-facing position responsible for supervising the execution of all email marketing and digital messaging programs. Maintains a mastery of email marketing and digital messaging best practices and applies them to improving existing email marketing campaigns and new business proposals. Manages critical vendor relationships, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud, to ensure Client satisfaction and to acquire new business.


The position applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures for advanced problem solving, using independent judgment and discretion for the completion of moderate to difficult assignments, which are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity. The position leads proposal and project development, managing more senior-level client and internal relationships, while also developing direct reports.



Global Team Management:

  • Manages global team email marketing operations by ensuring processes and procedures are adhered to while also implementing new and refining existing processes and standards where necessary
  • Manages global team email marketing resources and hiring by actively evaluating and selecting best-in-class candidates
  • Owns stake in financials by assisting in email marketing budget creation, forecasts, P&L oversight and staffing
  • Coordinates with global team leads to assist in new business acquisition
  • Mentors global team members and clearly defines success metrics


Client Strategy and Stewardship:

  • Maintain a clear understanding of Clients’ marketing and business goals while developing email marketing strategies and plans to deliver on those goals
  • Owns relationships with Client contacts by serving as the primary email marketing strategy subject matter expert
  • Manages implementations by supervising and advising on all Client implementations across offices
  • Consistently trouble shoots Client issues and opportunities and improvises ways to improve process and strategic recommendations
  • Promote and support innovation, continuous process improvement and optimizations across all Client touch points
  • Provide training and enablement services to external and internal Clients related to various ESP’s, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Oracle +Bronto and Mailchimp Pro


Sales and Solutions:

  • Drive innovation, business planning and development of email marketing services
  • Assist with new business acquisition by completing RFPs, presentation and sales materials as well as conduct email marketing program audits
  • Proven ability to present established business solutions as well as quarterly data analysis to Clients.
  • Manage vendor partner relationships to ensure existing clients programs are optimal and meeting or exceeding client expectations



  • 7+ years marketing experience, prior agency leadership in email and/or digital marketing strategy a plus
  • Obtain a current Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Email Specialist certification
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Engaging and persuasive presentation skills
  • Strong competency in digital marketing services
  • Ability to effectively oversee email marketing delivery of multiple client engagements
