Job Objective:

Responsible for the organization, administration, supervision, and evaluation of all programs, services and activities within the Elementary School building. Implement the policies of the Kirtland Board of Education according to Ohio School Law and Standards. Lead Instructional and Assessment practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A valid State of Ohio Elementary School Principal's License.
  • Meet all current health requirements.
  • Evidence of a clear record as determined by the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
  • Any other requirements of the Board of Education established for this position.
  • Evidence of successful classroom experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and collectively with all district personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Administrative experience preferred

INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP

Specific Behaviors

  • Implement and supervise Board approved Courses of Study, instructional materials, equipment and supplies.
  • Utilize data to monitor and improve student achievement in the short and long term.
  • Direct, supervise and evaluate the educational and guidance programs.

  • Monitor and implement the building and district's Mission Statement that aligns with the Strategic Plan.

  • Construct pacing guides that align with state standards

SUPERVISION

Specific Behaviors
  • Perform all assigned duties according to the policies, guidelines, rules and regulations of the Kirtland Board of Education, Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, any federal mandates and any directives of the Superintendent of Schools.
  • Work with appropriate district personnel to maintain accurate EMIS data.
  • Orient new staff members. Monitor the performance of substitute teachers and provide advice and guidance.
  • Administer the provisions of special education services consistent with IDEA requirements and administer provisions of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Support services for high achieving and gifted students
  • Evaluate staff according to district procedures.
  • Monitor and lead the building and district's continuous improvement process.
  • Assign staff to assignments appropriate with their certification/licensure, student and building needs.

MAINTAINS AN ORDERLY AND POSITIVE LEARNING CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENT

SUPERVISION OF BUILDING/GROUNDS AND CLASSIFIED STAFF Specific Behaviors
  • Supervise the building, grounds and school property to ensure cleanliness and the health, safety, and well-being of students, staff and visitors.
  • Consult with the Director of Buildings and Grounds about major building repairs and the replacement of equipment.
  • Evaluate appropriate classified personnel according to district procedures.
  • Monitor building and grounds compliance with local, state and federal rules, guidelines and regulations regarding safety, cleanliness and environmental issues.

FISCAL MANAGEMENT

  • Prepare annual budget recommendations. Monitor the building budget and requisitions supplies, textbooks, equipment and other items necessary for the operations of the school program.
  • Develop, monitor and revise budgets.
  • Operate building within prescribed building budgets.
  • Comply with financial procedures, regulations, and requirements of the District Treasurer's Office, Board Fiscal Policies and Guidelines, state and federal requirements and regulations.

  • Arrange for and maintain an inventory of all equipment and supplies.
  • Evaluate, update and monitor emergency preparedness plans and safety drills.
  • Oversees the supervision of all students' activities and related support organizations.
  • Set priorities, organize and complete duties efficiently without supervision.
  • Plan and utilize time efficiently.
  • Display effective organizational skills.
  • Adhere and follow appropriate procedures and district chain of command when dealing with issues and personnel.
