The Electronics/Computer Engineer provides engineering support for the FAA's Airport Surface Detection Equipment (ASDE) and Runway Status Lights (RWSL) systems. These systems are used by FAA’s Air Traffic Control for monitoring and guiding airport surface traffic, including arrivals, departures and maintenance/service vehicles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides engineering support for Surface Surveillance System hardware and software, which includes enhancements, modifications and configuration management to existing systems and related networks.
Provides required input for development and updating of hardware and software system manuals, guidelines and documentation where commercially developed documents are unavailable.
Provides engineering review of Surface Surveillance System software and hardware performance data to ensure compliancewith FAA performance criteria.
Provides engineering support for the replacement of legacy hardware and software, including support for unit, regression and integration testing.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by thecompany.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way asto maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering preferred from a school of engineering at an accredited college or university, with a minimum of one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; and required experience as listed below; or an equivalent combination of education/experience:
Electronics Engineer - Level 6 (required degree + 15 years of experience)
Electronics Engineer - Level 5 (required degree + 12 years of experience)
Electronics Engineer - Level 4 (required degree + 9 years of experience)
Electronics Engineer - Level 3 (required degree + 6 years of experience)
Electronics Engineer - Level 2 (required degree + 3 years of experience)
Electronics Engineer - Level 1 (required degree)
CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION
Must be able to pass a government sponsored background public trust investigation to include fingerprinting.
Must possess either U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien status
