Electronic Design Engineer

Job description

Acting as an electronic design engineer, you will be involved in the design of broadband electro-optic components using technology platforms such as silicon and/or indium-phosphide. You will also be involved in the design of packaging solutions, test circuits and systems. Part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will have to collaborate with scientists and other disciplines of engineering on a regular basis. This position requires autonomy, adaptability and a strong desire for innovation and problem solving skills.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and Simulation of passive filtering circuits and ESD protection circuits using various technologies PCB, hybrid and integrated circuits
  • Design, test and documentation of custom test systems
  • Apply RF design techniques to test PCB and test systems
  • Design bias circuits for active devices such as high-speed photo-diodes and amplifiers
  • Perform signal integrity analysis
  • Characterize electrical performance, elaborate test methods and publish characterization reports

Required qualifications

  • Minimum of engineering degree with specific studies in electronic design or engineering degree with significant work experience in analog electronic design
  • 3 to 8 years work experience in a relevant field
  • Practical experience in the design, simulation, fabrication and test of PCB
  • Knowledge of schematic entry tool like Cadence is a plus;
  • Knowledge of circuit simulators like Ansys Designer and LTSpice is a plus;
  • Knowledge of Matlab is mandatory
  • Basic knowledge of high speed opto-electronic devices such as modulators and photo-detectors are a plus
  • Hands-on experience with RF test instruments such as Vector Network Analyser Spectrum Analyser and High-speed Oscilloscope strongly desired
  • Excellent team work and communication skills
  • Excellent mastery of French and/or English both written and oral
