Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Partner with optical and mechanical engineers along with research scientists to develop system-level designs for solutions that span the RF, analog, digital, and electro-optic domains
  • Design, build, integrate, and test electro-optic and high speed digital circuits for spaceflight and high reliability environments
  • Track and meet schedule milestones and cost objectives
  • Develop accurate estimates of resources and task intervals for program managers in support of the overall program plan
  • Flow electrical and firmware requirements to a successful and highly motived team of electrical and firmware engineers
  • If required, obtain/retain a government security clearance at the level required to perform the duties of the position

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in architecting electro-optic solutions at the system level
  • RF and analog circuit design as it relates to photonics and electro-optics
  • Experience in high speed digital circuit design including schematic capture, simulation, component selection, and layout guidance to PCB designer
  • Experience in control loop design and digital signal processing a plus
  • Desire to follow design processes to meet industry quality standards
  • Knowledge of FEC algorithms, OTN, Gigabit Ethernet, and other telecommunications protocols a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field and a minimum of10 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, skills and experience

Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in an office and lab environment which requires proper safety precautions. Work requires some physical effort in the handling of materials, boxes, or equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's or PhD degree, Space Qualified Electronics experience preferred.
