The Electrical Test Engineer will be responsible for the development and deployment of manufacturing functional tests for PCBAs, subassemblies and final units. The candidate also contributes to define test strategy and manufacturing test plan for the new products to ensure product functionality is tested appropriately in a mid to high-volume manufacturing environment.

Task & Responsibilities

  • Support of the entire product test process, board level through top-level Box Build test
  • Create test plans and automated test sequences or scripts for testing new products
  • Analyzes test processes and systems for yield improvement and cost reduction opportunities
  • Interface with design engineering in coordinating design changes required for sustaining production and the release of new products
  • Leads in analyzing test failures for root causes and corrective actions, prepares failure analysis reports as required for production including analysis of customer returns for failure trends and cost drivers
  • Work closely with program managers and contract manufacturers to ensure adequate test capability and capacity for engineering and production builds
  • Coordination with design engineering on minor redesign of product and test equipment to resolve obsolete part, tolerance, and yield issues, including drawing changes to resolve them
  • Suggests appropriate product producibility projects to improve product performance, by identifying limit tolerance, design margin, test specification, or test yield issues
  • Works with Component Engineering, Purchasing, and Suppliers to resolve piece-part application and yield problems driving product performance and flow
  • Works with Test Technicians to train them on new products and test systems
  • Maintains all test documentation and evaluates test equipment and flows to optimize test effectiveness and efficiency
  • Assists Team Leadership in determining appropriate test staffing and skill levels
  • Participates in Production Readiness Reviews to determine suitability of new designs for production
  • Some travel (about 25% but could be higher at times) to CMs in Mexico & Asia is expected; typically during major events such as EVT, DVT & PVT

What you need

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM field
  • Ability to design test strategy, plan and implement to schedule
  • Hands-on experience working in a lab environment as well as volume manufacturing
  • Comprehensive analysis of technical issues, such as system performance analysis, root-cause of product issues regardless of source (hardware, system, or software)
  • Can develop test software in LabVIEW and/or TestStand
