Job Summary:

The Electrical Program Manager (EPM) is the senior, program-level authority responsible for defining and executing the electrical strategy for a large, multi-building mega-site. The role provides end-to-end leadership from early design alignment through energization and turnover, ensuring integration across construction, engineering, procurement, and commissioning while governing standards, sequencing, and risk mitigation. Reporting to the Site Manager, the EPM frequently represents the project to the client on critical electrical matters due to the complexity and importance of the scope.

#LI-SM2

Major Responsibilities:

  • Owns electrical execution at the program level for a multi-building mega-site-sets and enforces the electrical execution strategy, including power distribution philosophy, temporary-to-permanent power transitions, sequencing, energization rules, and system turnover criteria.
  • Serves as the functional electrical authority-governs how electrical work is planned, staffed, sequenced, and executed across all areas; reviews and challenges area plans, manpower strategies, schedules, and energization approaches; intervenes when risk to safety, schedule, quality, or commissioning emerges.
  • Leads constructability and engineering integration-acts as the construction authority for electrical design feasibility, sequencing, access, and install strategy; ensures engineering deliverables support efficient installation, testing, energization, and turnover.
  • Owns energization readiness and commissioning interface-establishes energization gates and approval criteria, ensures systems are installed and tested safely and correctly, and actively supports commissioning through turnover, punch resolution, and sequencing alignment. Serves as the primary electrical interface across Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Commissioning, Utilities, and the Client, ensuring procurement, vendor delivery, and system readiness align with installation and startup requirements.
  • Accountable for electrical safety, risk, and performance-owns the Electrical Safety Program (NFPA 70E-aligned), proactively manages program-level electrical risks, provides input to schedule and cost forecasts, and represents electrical execution with the client and executive leadership.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (or international equivalent).
  • 13-15 years of relevant experience with a degree, or 17-19 years of progressive experience without a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience on large, complex industrial or mission-critical projects, preferably $500M+, with multi-building or phased execution.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep understanding of electrical power systems, including MV/LV distribution, substations, backup power, grounding, and system integration.
  • Strong command of construction sequencing, energization planning, and commissioning interfaces.
  • Ability to lead through functional authority, technical credibility, and influence, rather than direct line control.
  • Proven experience coordinating across diverse stakeholder groups in high-risk, high-visibility environments.
  • Strong judgment, systems thinking, and ability to anticipate downstream impacts of early decisions.
