Job Purpose:

We have an opportunity for you to join our team as a Hardware Design Engineer within our Dallas Design Engineering team. In this role you will be responsible for the design of optical and electro-mechanical hardware with embedded software to support a wide range of client products. Ideal candidates will have a broad technical background and thrive in a fast-paced high-tech development environment. One would excel at taking a high-level goal, developing expertise in the relevant areas of technology, and creating proof-of-concept prototypes against aggressive timelines.

Client markets include communications, optics, commercial, medical, automotive, transportation, and energy sectors. Knowledge of how components, materials, and manufacturability affect a product’s performance is necessary. Familiarity with optical design and manufacturing is highly desirable.

Nature of Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include managing client meetings, preparing quotes, specification & requirements documentation, overseeing multi-disciplinary engineering design reviews, component selection, circuit design, oversight of board layout and prototyping, and product test, DVT (verification), and debug.

Education and Experience:

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant background experience with 7 years design experience. Areas of expertise should include:

• Mixed-Signal circuit design, with specific emphasis on circuits that support analog and microprocessors / programmable logic devices
• Schematic capture, board layout, and design verification (various CAD tools)
• Process and test creation within a laboratory environment
• Ability to debug digital and analog hardware

The following would be beneficial

• Familiarity with high-speed RF or Optical design and component selection
• Familiarity with embedded interface designs such as RAM, FLASH, Ethernet, and serial
• Familiarity with high reliability, temperature, and pressure design
