Description: Electrical Consultants, Inc., a leading power engineering consulting firm, has an immediate opening for an electrical engineer with study experience. ECI specializes in engineering services to electric utilities (substation, protection, transmission) alternative energy systems, communication, oil/gas, mining and heavy industry.
Responsibilities include performing a variety of specialized studies for electrical systems through 500
kV. These studies involve analysis of equipment/project performance for various phenomena including circuit breaker transient recovery voltages under normal system and fault interrupting scenarios, lightning/shielding and insulation system performance, temporary overvoltage and surge arrester performance, coupled/parallel line performance studies, transformer energizing, harmonics studies, load flow and short circuit duty analysis.
Minimum Requirements: MSEE required, power systems emphasis preferred; 5+ years’ study experience required; PE licensure preferred, but not required. Must be capable of preparing high quality written engineering reports and have excellent communication and organizational skills. Experience in the following software packages a plus: PSS/e Dynamics, PSLF Dynamics, Powerworld, PSCADTM , EMTP-RV, ATP, Matlab, MathCad, Aspen, CAPE and other specialized software.
