We are seeking a professional Electrical Engineer to join our team!  In this position, you will provide leadership and support for Equistar Pipeline’s Power Systems, and serves as an additional resource for Automation and Control (PLC and DCS) needs. Particular responsibilities include: supporting expense & capital projects; implementing and improving maintenance practices; overseeing installation practices for low voltage and medium voltage Power Distribution Systems, grounding systems, transformers, UPS, all types of motors and motor control equipment; supporting electrical testing & inspection; and managing area electrical classification documentation.  Candidate will work closelywith Technical, Operations, Maintenance, and Project Group personnel in the execution of these duties.   This position will office at Equistar Pipeline’s Clear Lake, TX facility, but has responsibility for assets from Corpus Christi, TX to Lake Charles, LA.


Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Function as theelectricaltechnical lead on Pipeline capital and expense projects, including:
    • Providing electricalengineering calculations, design, and specifications
    • Reviewing design drawings and engineering specifications to ensure conformance with relevant company/industry standards and practices
    • Interact with engineers and constructioncontractors, both on-site and off-site, to ensure adequate design and proper installation
  • Support all Equistar Pipeline sites regarding the operation and maintenance of existing electrical facilities
  • Apply analysis techniques to identify, prioritize, and resolve leveraging electrical power issues
  • Steward the development, implementation, and maintenance of Equistar Pipeline electrical standards and procedures
  • Optimize preventative maintenance practices, and assist Reliability Improvement Teams to improve system reliability
  • Consult, assist, and/or lead incident investigations and troubleshooting activities
  • Provide training to others on new and existing electricaltechnologies
  • Mentor less experienced engineers, and participate in LYB teams and networks



  • BS degree in ElectricalEngineeringwith a minimum of 8years of industrialexperience in Power Distributionwithin the pipeline and/or petrochemical industries
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of: industry codes such as NEC, ANSI/IEEE, API, NFPA, IEC, and their application; low and medium voltage switchgear/MCC design and operation; motors; UPS systems, and electrical system studies using SKM Power Tools software
  • Knowledge and experiencewith Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS), including ladder logic & function block design and programming
  • Experience conducting Arc Flash Studies and implementing required mitigation techniques 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Exhibit an understanding of business drivers, management of change requirements, reliability processes, and maintenance workflow
  • Self-directed with ability to work with minimal direct oversight; able to manage multiple/changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills;
  • Some travel is required for this position
