Electrical Engineer working on system-level engineering and electrical problem analysis for automotive infotainment systems, specifically AM/FM, SDARS, Audio, Bluetooth, WiFi and USB features. Responsibilities include creation of validation plans, comprehending and explaining customer requirements, electrical/system issue analysis, understanding electrical schematic and block diagram of the system, understand electrical components data sheets, evaluate bench and vehicle level log files for issue analysis and supporting customer issues.
-Serve as the main contact with the customer and Product Development Team in Japan.
-Capture and analyze data from GMLAN, LIN, and MOST bus, internal bus (I2C, etc.) data capture and analysis, adjusting calibrations on GMLAN, testing new Software releases.
-Test internally and support customer testing at different sites.
-Obtain information requested by Product Development Team in Japan from the customer.
-Provide required information to the customer.
-Perform vehicle tests such as functional tests, noise tests, reception tests and CD skip tests.
-Perform vehicle calibrations on audio systems.
-Be responsible for reviewing and negotiating customer specifications and requirements.
-Investigate and solve engineering and quality issues.
-Perform analysis on warranty returns and customer plant fallouts to determine the root cause.
-Create technical reports, 5 phase reports and 8D's.
-Prepare necessary documentation, material, reports, etc. for customer engineering meetings. -Request necessary input to Product Development Team in Japan as part of preparation.
-Develop and maintain open issue list for customer engineering meetings.
-Attend project related meetings with the customer.
-Author minutes from customer meetings.
-Gain in-depth understanding of customer requirements/requests to give clear and concrete instructions to Product Development Team in Japan.
-Customer plant support especially.
-Provide engineering support for Manufacturing, both product and customer sites.
-Testing SW and derive test procedures as new requirements are received.
-Evaluate new software patches, and evaluate all system impacts.
-Support customer APQP/PPAP requirements.
-May perform market research and product planning duties during product launch period.
-Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in ElectricalEngineering or equivalent and minimum 6 years of experience.
-Hands-on knowledge of electrical debugging tools such as oscilloscope, voltmeters, etc.
-Minimum of 6 years Automotive OEM experience/infotainment preferred.
-I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernetexperiencerequired.
-Hardware engineeringexperience with audio products.
-Experience with Bluetooth.
-Ability of schematics reading, hardware troubleshooting, tests and measurements.
-Ability to prepare and perform technical presentations to OEM's.
-Highly organized, meticulous and methodical.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skill.
-Ability to closely work with software engineers to solve issues.
-Willing to work with cross-cultural teams.
-Willing to support and work on non-electrical issues as needed such as mechanical issues to make sure on-time deliveries and quality customer support.
-Understanding of PPAP/ APQP Requirements.
-Proficiency with MS Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project).
-Ability to travel domestic and internationally.
