We are looking for an Electrical Engineer withexperience in hardware systems andFPGAs to join our Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) team in Menlo Park, CA. In this role, you wouldwork closely with researchers as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team (e.g. mechanical,electrical, optical, and software) to design, build, test, and maintain novel wearable neural interface technologies. Our research is focused on developing functional brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies for use in consumer electronic products. Our team collaborates extensively with small companies and academic institutions, and publishes in peer-reviewed journals.


  • Design and integrate electrical and computational systems, including architecture, component selection, PCB schematic and layout, bring-up, characterization, and integration
  • FPGA programming using Verilog or VHDL
  • Drive electrical engineering activities to completion, leveraging the internal team and external vendors
  • Work closely with researchers to understand their goals and elicit electrical system requirements
  • Integrate electronics with optical, mechanical, and software components, as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Characterize and test opto-electro-mechanical systems using bench-top laboratory equipment and scripting
  • Take prototypes to increasing levels of fidelity, ranging from rapid prototypes to mass production ready designs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • 4+ years of industry experience in consumer product design
  • Experience integrating electrical systems that include communication interfaces (e.g., MIPI, USB, I2C, SPI, etc.), FPGAs, camera modules, microcontrollers, microprocessors, and power sequencing
  • Experience in schematic and board layout using Altium, Cadence, or equivalent
  • Experience with RTL coding using Verilog or VHDL
  • Experience with lab and debugging for board and system bring-up and characterization using bench-top laboratory equipment
  • Experience with PCB layout principles, including high speed signal integrity (multi-Gigabit), power layout, desense, DFM, etc.
  • Experience with computer systems architecture and embedded systems
  • Experience with programming and scripting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more of the following: analog, transceivers, ADCs, DACs, power, low-level software, DSP programming, sensor technologies, low-power design, optoelectronics
  • Experience in circuit simulations using SPICE
  • Experience collaborating withJDM/CM/ODM
  • Experience designing products for mass production consumer hardware
  • Experience with medical imaging or scientific instrumentation system development
  • Masters or PhD Degree
