  • Utilize understanding of FPGA design process including requirements generation, preliminary design, peer reviews, detailed design, test plan generation, and integration and test
  • Utilize basic digital logic design concepts (understanding how VHDL code translates into logic primitives within an FPGA); understanding of all the architectural elements within Xilinx FPGA
  • Static timing analysis and the process by which timing closure is achieved in a design
  • Strong hardware and firmware debugging skills; integrating with HW/software and supporting the complete testing and qualification of the deliverable system
  • Work independently and has strong technical leadership to lead a team of designers in generating the firmware design solutions
  • Proficient with the use of the following types of lab test equipment: Signal Generators, Logic Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Signal Analyzers, Noise Generators, Digital Oscilloscopes, Embedded FPGA Debugging tools
  • Proficient with MSWindows and LINUX operating systems
  • Proficient with the Xilinx Vivado Tool Suite (Synthesis, Place and Route, Simulation, Timing Analysis)
  • Strong computer skills and proficient with the use of the following software applications: MS Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio, Subversion (revision control software), JIRA (issue tracking tool), Matlab
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work and communicate effectively within a team environment and negotiate solutions with Hardware / Software Engineering and Systems Engineering
  • Experience with the design and debug of communications systems (radio transmitters and receivers) is desired


  • BS Degree in electrical/computer engineering
  • 10+ years or related experience (or 8+ years including a Master's degree)

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing with Northwest Logic Gen 3 PCIe and 3rd Party DDR3 cores
  • Ability to write C++ and use Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Ability to work in a team environment and negotiate solutions with Hardware / Software Engineering and Systems Engineering is desired
