Position Overview Electrical Design Engineer
- Design, modify, and manage PCBAs using Altium Designer
- Manage PCB design workflows, version control, and design collaboration using GitLab or similar repository-based engineering platforms.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics and PCB layouts for digital, analog, and power circuits.
- Perform component placement and routing with emphasis on return paths, power integrity, and EMI mitigation.
- Perform system-level electrical schematic design in EPLAN for integration of PCB assemblies into higher-level systems.
- Manage component selection to meet electrical performance, quality, lifecycle, and cost objectives.
- Generate complete manufacturing documentation (Gerbers, assembly drawings, BOMs, and system-level documentation) to support production release.
- Collaborate with procurement, PCB fabricators, and contract manufacturers to ensure DFM/DFT compliance and manufacturability.
- Support prototype builds, debug hardware issues, and implement design improvements through production.
- Role will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design product solutions to meet customer requirements in cost-effective and timely manner.
- Ensure electrical designs meet all applicable agency requirements and standards. (ie: UL2202, UL2231, NFPA/NEC, etc.)
- Interact with other R&D engineering team members, Contract Administrators, Procurement, Project management, Product Line Mangers and Manufacturing to resolve technical issues in a dynamic evolving environment.
- Maintain approved component libraries, parts storage databases, lifecycle data, and internal part numbering systems to support standardization, traceability, and supply chain alignment.
- Create and review product and process test reports/plans of new or modified product designs.
- Complete engineering assurance evaluations including Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
- Participate in agency certification and approval process.
- Work with the manufacturing team to diagnose and resolve engineering issues and supervise manufacturing builds of prototypes.
- Control release packages, design revisions, BOMs, fabrication files, and supporting documentation through established document control and repository management processes.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience - 2+ years experience with the following:
- PCB design experience
- Altium Designer proficiency (schematic capture, PCB layout, ECO management)
- Designing mixed-signal, digital, analog, and power circuitry
- Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC mitigation techniques
- Developing PCB stack-ups in collaboration with fabrication houses
- Generating complete manufacturing documentation (Gerbers, BOMs, assembly drawings)
- Working with PCB fabricators and contract manufacturers (DFM/DFT reviews)
- Strong troubleshooting and hardware debug skills during prototype and production builds
- Understanding of component selection, lifecycle management, and supply chain considerations
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience: - Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, SAE and NEMA standards for DC Chargers.
- Experience managing PCB design files, libraries, BOMs, and engineering documentation using GitLab, PDM, ERP, or other configuration/document control systems.
- Experience with system-level electrical schematic design using Eplan or other electrical CAD software

The pay range for this position is 68,830 - 143,942 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
