The Electric Machine Simulation Engineer is responsible for electric machine (SynRM, SRM & IM, etc.) performance simulation and prediction, supporting e-machine design, development and optimization through virtual analysis tools, and providing data for other groups for CAE analysis. The Engineer is also responsible for e-machine modeling methodologies development and processes documentation.


The expected job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, test and correlate high-fidelity physics-based models
  • Support e-machine design, development and optimization using Computer Aided Engineering
  • Support e-machine control and calibration development
  • Execute advanced projects for new methodology and process development
  • Document procedures, and write technical/progress reports
  • Coordinate between different release groups, global simulation teams and suppliers to identify risk and communicate virtual analysis results



Basic Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline, or Applied Mathematics field from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the automotive powertrain industry area
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with e-machine simulation tool(s) such as Maxwell/Flux/MotorCAD, Ansys HFSS & Matlab
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of electric machine modeling, simulation and/or experimental tests
  • Excellent organizational skills and effective communication skills w.r.t. technical issues - both verbal and written


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Engineering
  • Experience in one or more of the following automotive system areas; hybrid powertrains, batteries, engines, transmissions, driveline, thermal systems, or controls
  • Experience with system modeling and analysis of electric and hybrid powertrain or vehicle level systems
