Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the facilities and all contractors/vendors are in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local Safety and Environmental Regulations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas: Safety, Health, Environmental, Risk Management and Process Safety Management.
  • Maintains all safety reports, logs, and other documentation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Facilitates all government safety inspections and responds in a timely manner, in coordination with facility management, to inquiries/inspections by loss control service provider and government agencies (OSHA, EPA, Insurance Carrier, etc.).
  • Develops, maintains, and implements safety/environmental procedures, programs, incentive programs, and awareness material to reduce control and eliminate occupational safety/ environmental and health hazards.
  • Develops and provides direction for Safety Committees.
  • Performs accident investigations, conducts safety audits to ensure compliance with company & governmental regulations, ensures understanding and enforcement of plant safety rules.
  • Provides special training programs including Supervisor safety training and special employee safety training programs and maintains accident records and supporting documentation.
  • Conducts environmental audits and submits reports to ensure compliance with company and governmental procedures and regulations.
  • Ensures the provisions of plant safety systems and personal protective equipment required to control the risk of hazards in the workplace.
  • Oversee the implementation of corrective action arising from an accident investigation and hazard reports. Provides audit advice and counsel as requested for other locations outside of own.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA’s Process Safety Management Standard, EPA’s Chemical Accident Prevention Provision Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulation and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Writes, manages, implements and maintains all fourteen (14) elements programs of the OSHA Process Safety Management standard and the additional requirements of EPA Risk Management Plan regulation.
    • Includes: Process Hazard Analysis, Operating Procedures (Ammonia), Contractor Management, Hot Work Permits, Management of Change, Incident Investigation, Emergency Planning & Response, Compliance Audits and the EPA Risk Management Plan.
  • Assesses, tracks and completes necessary updates with respect to PSM and RMP compliance dateobligations and metrics.
    • Recommends, implements and manages actions to address or correct for compliance dateobligations or metrics requiring improvement.
  • Able to use software and common Microsoft office tools to generate and track metrics, compliance obligations, workflows and action items.

Qualifications

Years of Experience: 5 -7 years related work experienceEducation: Bachelor’s degree or equivalentKnowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Previous Management Experience in Risk Management/Safety area.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations with respect to OSHA, ADA, EPA regulations, USDA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Experience in Loss Control Consulting or Industrial Health and Safety and Managed Care Return-To- Work and/or Claims Management.
  • Experience with OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) regulation and EPA’s Risk Management Plan (RMP).
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems a plus.
  • Ability to effectively supervise employees.
  • Ability to conduct training sessions and give presentations to small and/or large groups of people
  • Able to use software and common Microsoft office tools to generate and track metrics, compliance obligations, workflows and action items.
