Responsibilities

Overview:

The EHS Remediation Specialist role will be a key contributor to the FMC Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Remediation and Compliance Teams. This role will provide input and analysis of matters relating to compliance with EHS regulatory requirements at FMC operating facilities and our remediation portfolio.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Implement various programs within the remediation portfolio, including safety tracking, project deployment activities, and financial assurance.
  • Act as an Assurance Reviewer for all remediation projects subject to rCDP process.
  • Organize annual safety summit and manage all required trainings for Remediation and Compliance Teams.
  • Monitor the progress of assigned field and laboratory programs, which are being conducted to satisfy company environmental remediation obligations.
  • Plan and prepare for all EHS audits, using applicable databases and organizing information.   
  • Attend all EHS audits as an environmental subject matter expert.
  • Assist in training and development of EHS personnel to serve as audit team members.
  • Critically review and make compliance determinations in conjunction with FMC legal team and Corporate EHS personnel, including writing draft audit findings, editing of final reports for issuance, and reviewing facility action plans corresponding to auditreports.
  • Timely response to internal questions regarding site-specific information or audit details.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the EHS Audit Program and take lead on improvement projects, as assigned.
  • Draft and circulate quarterly internal EHS compliance newsletter.
  • Own EHS Permit Inventory and be an active participant in rollout of global permit review process.
  • Critically review and edit for accuracy, style and content all reports, correspondence, field records, etc. which are prepared to document EHS audit and project work.
  • Maintain detailed files suitable for cost recovery, Sarbanes Oxley key control compliance, potential litigation, and in compliance with FMC’s record retention policy.
  • Approximately 30% overnight travel. 

Required Education

Required Education:

  • BS in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • Master’s Degreepreferred.

Experience:

 

Grade A:

  • Minimum of five years of facility operations, EHS, or engineering/environmental project management.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral, and ability to give presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in using common computer software, such as: SAP® and Microsoft Word®, Excel®, and PowerPoint®. 
  • Ability to work independently with data management software to enter audit information and generate reports. 
  • At least one year in direct management of environmental, health, and/or safety requirements. 
  • Technical knowledge and experience in some complex environmental, occupational health, or worker safety subject areas.
  • Experience in independently analyzing requirements with key stakeholders, evaluating feasibility, and developing a strategy for implementation.
  • Limited experience overseeing technical, organizational management, and financial aspects of an environmental project.
  • Good team player with multi-disciplinary teams as well as good coaching ability to assist others in matrixed environment.
  • Maintains knowledge of specific requirements imposed by government agencies and can be a subject matter expert on certain topics.

 

Grade B:

  • Five + years of facility operations, EHS, or engineering/environmental project management.
