About The Opportunity

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The EH&S Manager is responsible for leading and directing the implementation and maintenance of comprehensive environmental, health and safety compliance systems. The EHS Manager will play a critical role in driving initiatives for the business by implementing EHS improvements and sustaining positive EHS standards for our facility in Tallassee, AL.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Identify and propose action plans/resources needed to address acquisition/transition issues and requirements related to environmental, safety & health (ESH) for new business.

Provide leadership for the integration of ESH into all operations, in line with business excellence models, ISO, and VPP objectives.

Manage professional staff and direct/coordinate the services of contractors/consultants/vendor to implement and execute the safety, hygiene and environmental programs of the site.

Ensure that necessary applications, data/records, reports, and environmental permits are submitted/maintained for Elmore County, ADEM, and all federal regulations.

Develop strategies to eliminate risk from proposed regulatory changes; develop internal processes to eliminate any risk for the site during local, state and federal regulatory visits at the facilities.

Develop industrial hygiene monitoring strategies to establish baseline data and recommend control methods for occupational health hazards. Maintain data/ reports for future retrieval needs, in accordance with recordkeeping policies.

Provide to the business units a clear understanding of their responsibilities regarding ES&H requirements in their operations.

Provide guidance to facilities and manufacturing operations to assist them in understanding and meeting their requirements/accountability for applicable regulations. 

Develop sound, equitable, realistic standards, policies and procedures in the safety, environmental, industrial hygiene and health areas, and an effective means of communicating them to the organization.

Develop emergency preparedness capabilities for appropriate responses to industrial accidents/injuries, medical emergencies and hazardous materials releases. Coordination with in-plant personnel, contracted specialists and municipal responders. 

ABOUT YOU 

Required Qualifications:  

  • 6 years minimum operations, technical or manufacturing experience

  • The position requires a B.S. or M.S. degree or equivalent in engineering or environmental, health and safety related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing waste water, air, and waste regulatory permits and requirements
  • Strong ability to influence and lead associates, operations support, administrative support and leadership staff

  • Knowledge in OSHA VPP program and or an experienced SGE

  • Implementing an operationalized employee led EHS program

  • Has training the trainer certification in confined space, LOTO, cranes, and PIT

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. May require occasional lifting of 0-50lbs. and the ability to climb, bend, stoop, crouch or kneel in a shop setting. Use of various gauges and measurement tools in investigating issues. Employee may spend extended periods of time in a shop floor environment requiring PPE. Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
