Reports to the Program Director. Provides mentorship and instruction to School of Dentistry students assigned to preclinical and clinic education. This supervision requires competence in the discipline being taught (including the ability to describe how each clinical procedure is done), and recognition and effective communication of acceptable and unacceptable student performance. The educator must be trained and competent to manage unexpected situations related to the dental treatment of patients, such as untoward reactions to treatment and emergencies. This training includes annual LLUH, University, and School compliance requirements and School guidelines of practice. Performs other duties as needed.
Knowledge in the discipline being taught. Possess training and competence to manage unexpected situations related to the dental treatment of patients. Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations. Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner Able to keyboard 40 wpm. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure. Doctorate in Dentistry or equivalent required. No years of experiencerequired. Current licensure in Dentistry required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
