We are searching for an accomplished editorial leader to drive the production of engaging, data-driven storytelling that connects with both consumers and key B2B rentals and real estate audiences.
This centerpiece of your work is editing the Zillow Group Consumer Housing Trends Report (ZG Report), an annual exploration of how Americans buy, sell, rent, and think about home. This report is published as a book and online. You will own editing for both.
You will also be responsible for editing original content derived from the ZG Report and other original Zillow data, aimed at consumers and industry professionals.
This role requires next-level cross-collaborative skills, as outputs will be developed at the direction of multipleinternal partners including Brand, PR, Econ and Insights. Additionally, you will need to be fluent in the very best editorial practices to ensure accuracy of information and version control.
Your responsibilities will include:
Drive content production for a multi-chapter, 150+ page written report in response to an outline providing detail around themes, structure and salient storylines
Manage a data & trends writer and freelance writers
Organize content – edit and write headlines and captions
Gather and work through input from core working group and stakeholders while maintaining consistent voice
Work with graphic artists, public relations, researchers and other collaborators to ensure consistent theme and narrative
Manage multiple stakeholders while rigorously adhering to project timeline
Masterful version management
Fact-check and edit for grammar, style and brand tone
Support production of content derived from report
About the team
Zillow Group Studios is the production arm of the Brand Marketing Team, providing a range of content, design and video-related services that help internal clients meet their goals. This includes everything from content strategy and resource center development and management to making phenomenal creative. As an added bonus, the view from our office comprises Puget Sound and, weather permitting, two mountain ranges.
Who you are
At least 4-5 years editingexperience, digital/online preferred
BA/BS in communications, journalism or equivalent experience
Experience leading large-scale content efforts; editing research-based content is ideal
Knowledge of data, economics, and real estate is a big plus
Track record of developing and producing large reports
Excellent editing and writing skills, deep knowledge of AP style, and familiarity with editing for brand voice
Swift and organized editing process with acute attention to detail and experience working under deadline
Strong leadership and communication skills
Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Docs + WordPress and other content management systems
