Job Description

Eaton’s Corporate IT Function is seeking an ECommerce Java Developer in our Infrastructure Platform Architecture Center of Excellence (IPACOE).  The ECommerce Java Developer will be based at any Eaton facility. No relocation is being offered for this position.  If the candidate resides within 50 miles of Beachwood, Ohio, the candidate must work at that site. If the candidate resides more than 50 miles away from Beachwood, Ohio, the candidate will work remote from another US Eaton Facility or an approved home office.

 

The ECommerce Java Developer will design, develop and support technical solutions to meet requirements through standard IT processes for the enterprise ECommerce platform.

 

Technical areas of responsibility include:

  1. Designing and implementing aspects of Eaton’s ECommerce application

  2. Acquiring and maintaining thorough understanding of the software platforms and supporting sub-systems (application / web server), related to ECommerce technologies and delivery teams

  3. Solving complex technical problems to ensure platform quality and performance; including problem identification, investigation, planning and resolution

  4. Interacting with customers, architects, and analysts to understand requirements

  5. Planning development work in detail at design and team level

  6. Reviewing own work as well as others work in formal design and quality reviews

  7. Helping with technical strategy of applications through following and setting standards / best practices, providing quality development solutions and documentation

  8. Working with and advancing development lifecycle processes

Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understands functional & technical requirements and responsible for project development
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical support and maintenance issues
  • Technology specific development & testing using SDLC
  • Executes ITSM processes (Change, request, incident, problem management) on technical IT systems

Specific Duties:

  • Troubleshooting system issues
  • Task estimation in effort hours
  • System administration
  • Creating technical documentation
  • Warranty support
  • Technical design
  • Develop code based on technical specifications

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • 3years of experience developing IT platforms
  • 2years of experience with Java development
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

  Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience with web development (HTML, CSS, Javascript)
  • Experience with jQuery and Bootstrap desired
  • Experience with Oracle Commerce desired
  • Experience administering, configuring and supporting Enterprise Applications.
  • Experience with application / web server, database, and OS (Unix/Linux, Oracle DB)
  • Experience successfully delivering on multiple aspects of a technology project
  • Experience designing, developing, optimizing and maintaining large web sites and applications

  Position Criteria:

  • Strong knowledge of Java, web development
  • Knowledge of Javascript, CSS, jQuery, Bootstrap, web services, version control
  • Exposure to enterprise application architecture, design patterns, and unit testing
  • Requires the ability to work on multiple projects of varying scope and scale
  • Requires the ability to handle ambiguous situations and execute upon a direction
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and Team Player
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills
  • Requires strong analytical, problem solving, and action-driven competencies
