Maxar's AIT Dynamics Test Section is looking for a highly self-motivated Dynamics Test Engineer who can immediately come and make an impact. As part of the dynamics test team you will serve as the Process Lead Engineer specializing in spacecraft and subsystem vibration testing, acoustic testing, and shock testing.Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Plan and direct the execution of spacecraft level vibration, acoustic, and shock testing.
  • Manage Dynamics Test activities with duties such as providing facility readiness status, problem resolution tracking, and performing the planning and implementation of facility and equipment upgrades.
  • Effectively follow written test procedures. Develop, write, and maintain Dynamics Test procedures. Develop new test techniques as required.
  • Coordinate cross functional organizational efforts including technical, schedule, and/or cost elements to support the timely execution of spacecraft level Dynamics testing. Take the role of the central point of contact during spacecraft testing by interfacing and coordinating with Structural Analysis and Test, Quality, Mechanical Vehicle Engineering, Mechanical Systems Engineering, Electrical Vehicle Engineering, and Spacecraft Management.
  • Establish, publish, and manage test schedules to maintain schedule integrity and accurately communicate deviations from the original plan.
  • Plan and manage manpower to support testing as required.
  • Overcome "roadblocks" to testing by identifying the issue, obtaining the appropriate support, prioritizing activities with supporting management, and tracking the closure and corrective action of the issue.
  • Aid in the design and procurement of test fixtures.
  • Identify and lead process improvement projects that will result in schedule and/or cost reductions.
  • Attend daily spacecraft status meetings throughout set up and testing. Present information at Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and planning meetings.
  • Perform similar duties outlined above for subsystem vibration tests as necessary.
  • Occasionally aid the Structural Analysis and Test Section with data review, procedure generation, and test requirements.
  • Utilize knowledge of aerospace materials, structural testing, and basic structural analysis concepts such as strength of materials, stress analysis, and structural dynamics.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
  • Requires 3 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong leadership qualities are a must.
  • Must have a demonstrated the ability to contribute to a project as part of a team of specialist engineers and technicians.
  • Direct experience in the performance and/or data analysis of sine vibration, shock testing, or acoustics testing in an engineering role is required.
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and off shifts when required.
